Who Me?

Who Me?

When we talk about church, are we talking about a building, an organization or people? Being at church isn’t about where you are but the people you're with.

I love when I have encounters with God. Sometimes its through a worship service, quiet moments reading my Bible, being out in nature, or music. One of the best is encountering God through other people. There are so many people that have been the presence of God to me.
When we talk about church, are we talking about a building, an organization or people? Being at church isn’t about where you are but the people you're with.

In Acts 2, on the day of Pentecost, fire falls from heaven on the disciples, the people, consecrating the new temple, the new church. The apostle Paul later says “You, plural, Y’all, are the temple, the body of Christ.” Your life may be the only gospel some people ever read. You may be the hands or Christ helping others in need. With Pentecost the Holy Spirit is given to everyone. We can all be used by God to speak his truth, life, hope, love into others lives.

Come join a wonderful church, a wonderful people this Sunday, at Pembroke UMC. Join us as we walk through life with Jesus Christ and each other. And hey, this Sunday, June 9th, stay after church for a great Pot-Luck lunch!

At Pentecost God pours out the Holy Spirit on the Disciples, initiating a new temple, the people. Paul says “Y’all are the temple.” (Southernisms added) All followers or Jesus Christ are the new temple. With the Holy Spirit in us, God can use us in the world to be his presence, his hands and feet, his voice.
