Faith

Faith

The essence of faith is complete trust. We can have faith in our things like cars, or people. What about faith in God. We can have faith that God exists. We can have faith that God will bring about his promises in our life. Part of that promise is heaven when we die. But what else.

Faith is an interesting thing. Think about the faith you have when driving. That your breaks work, that the car in front of you isn’t going to randomly slam on their breaks for no reason. That your gas gauge works!

Some of that might just be our playing the odds. I mean do people jumping out of an airplane with a parachute really have faith, or are they just playing the odds. I don’t know... I’m not going to find out first hand.

The essence of faith is complete trust. We can have faith in our things like cars, or people.

What about faith in God.
We can have faith that God exists.
We can have faith that God will bring about his promises in our life. Part of that promise is heaven when we die. But what else.

We aren’t promised a life of good health and lots of material goods. We aren’t promised a life free from hardship.
We are promised that God will never leave us or forsake us. No matter what we do, God won’t kick us to the curb. He will always forgive and always love us.
We are also promised that God has a plan for our lives.

A plan not to harm us, but a plan for us to be a part of his Kingdom, and the physical body of Christ here on earth.
We are promised a life full of purpose, full of love, and that God will never abandon us.

I think this is just the the beginning of the kind of faith we can have in God. Way more than any moving vehicle, or any other person, we can place our trust and faith in God, the creator and sustainer of all things.

Come to Pembroke UMC this Sunday as we dig into what faith means for our lives. God Bless you, and God Bless America.
