Sand

Sand

Genesis 41:47-49 “During the seven plentiful years the earth produced abundantly, 48 and he gathered up all the food of these seven years, which occurred in the land of Egypt, and put the food in the cities. He put in every city the food from the fields around it. 49 And Joseph stored up grain in great abundance, like the sand of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured.”

The beach shows us the ebb and flow of life. The tide goes in and out twice a day. Over a much longer period of time we see sand dunes a mile or more inland showing us where the sea used to be. We go through the ebb and flow in life too, and not just related to age, career and family. I think we go through spiritual seasons. Sometimes we are on the mountain top and other times we are in the desert.

Joseph stored up grain, blessings from God in Egypt during the seven years of plenty because he was preparing for the seven years of famine. God’s blessings far outweigh our problems. Take a moment and count your blessings. They are more numerous than grains of sand on the beach. God’s blessings, promises and call on our life to take part in his grand story are sometimes the only things that keep us going in seasons of drought.

Take a few minutes on each of these:

What seasons have you been through? What season are you in now?

Think about the sand as God’s blessings. They are too numerous to count, but count anyway. Spend a few minutes counting your blessings……

Think about this…. Whether you are standing or sitting, moving or resting, you are supported by the sand, your blessings. How are your blessings carrying you right now?
